Consistently reliable service

I've used Fish Audio for a few projects now, mostly for their Text-to-Speech and occasionally the Voice Generator. This time I needed some Multilingual Voice Synthesis for a client. As usual, the platform was stable and the output quality was high. I appreciate that they've maintained their performance over time. My previous experiences were also smooth, so I keep coming back. It's reassuring to know what to expect.

Easy to use for my podcast

Needed a voice for some podcast intros and outros so I tried out the Text-to-Speech with Emotion Control. It was pretty straightforward to use, I just typed what I wanted and picked a voice. The emotion controls actually worked surprisingly well, made it sound much less robotic. Getting the audio file was no hassle at all. Felt pretty good about the whole thing.

Detailed look at my experience

I opted for the Instant Voice Cloning and a batch of Text-to-Speech for a small video project. The ordering process was clear, and I got my confirmation email right away. The voice cloning was remarkably fast, literally minutes, and the fidelity was quite impressive given the 'instant' nature. For the text-to-speech, I experimented with the SSML Support, and it really helped fine-tune the delivery, making it sound more natural than just plain text. Audio export was simple, giving me various formats. I did have a quick question about API access for a future project, and customer support responded within a few hours, which was decent. Quality is definitely a strong point here, and the platform itself was intuitive enough for a first-timer. It exceeded my expectations for the price point.

Good value with the free credits

As a first-time buyer, I was looking for the best deal. The free credits for new users were a big plus, letting me test the Text-to-Speech without commitment. The quality was surprisingly good for what I paid (which was nothing initially!). I ended up purchasing a small credit package because it felt worth the money for the functionality I got. Happy with the overall value.

Good quality, minor hiccup

I purchased the AI Voice Cloning service to create a voice for a short narration. The quality of the cloned voice was impressive, very natural and captured the nuances well. Delivery of the processed audio was quick too. My only minor issue was with the initial upload interface; it felt a little clunky when handling multiple files. Overall, a solid experience and good value for the capabilities.

Thinking of moving my podcast narration over to Fish Audio. Currently using another service, but their emotion control synthesis isn't quite cutting it. Has anyone tried the emotion control on Fish Audio for longer-form content?

A ArjunS 1 day ago ✓ Best Answer
For podcasts, I'd say it's pretty good. The 'happy' and 'neutral' emotions are solid. 'Sad' or 'angry' can sometimes sound a little over-the-top if you're not careful. Definitely try the free credits to test it out on your script first.

That's a good tip, thanks. My current service struggles with subtle emotional shifts.

R RinaK 1 day ago
I agree with the 'over-the-top' part for stronger emotions. Less is more sometimes.

T techfreak 1 day ago
Haven't used emotion control specifically for podcasting, but I did try some character voice generation for a game concept. The quality was surprisingly good, especially with the custom voice models. Might be overkill for a standard podcast though.

Character voice generation sounds interesting. Is that easy to set up?
4
T techfreak 1 day ago
Yeah, pretty straightforward if you have good source audio for cloning.

P PoojaR 1 day ago
I use it for my explainer videos, which are usually 5-7 minutes. The emotion control is pretty decent, definitely better than some others I've tried. You can fine-tune it quite a bit, but it takes some practice to get it sounding natural for longer segments.

How's the consistency across different takes or edits?

Sometimes needs a bit of tweaking if you split sentences, but generally holds up. The SSML support helps a lot.

Just got hit with the renewal price for my Fish Audio annual plan. It's noticeably higher than last year. Anyone else seeing this? I thought annual plans were supposed to be more stable.

S Sneha22 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I actually contacted support about it. They said some older plans with 'legacy' pricing were adjusted to align with current features and costs. Didn't offer a discount directly but mentioned checking for bulk credit packages if I use a lot of minutes.

That makes sense. I probably had one of those early adopter deals.

Good to know. Bulk credits might be an option then.

N Nikhil87 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I saw a bump too. Mine went up by about 15%. I'm guessing they adjusted pricing across the board or maybe my early bird discount expired.

Did you check if there was a seasonal sale you missed? Sometimes those change the baseline.

Mine renewed last month and it was the same price. Maybe it depends on the plan tier? I'm on the Creator plan.

I'm on Creator too, and saw an increase. That's weird.

Could be regional pricing differences? Or maybe when you originally signed up matters.

Does Fish Audio do any kind of student discount? I'm working on a project and could really use the advanced features but my budget is kinda tight.

E Ella Mitchell 1 month ago
They do! I got one earlier this year. You just gotta prove you're a student, I think it was through SheerID or something similar.

D Daniel Miller 1 month ago
Yep, there's definitely a student discount. Check their site, it should be in the FAQs or a link from the pricing page. Worth it for sure.

Thinking about getting Fish Audio for some video narration. Anyone used it for that? How's the voice quality compared to, say, ElevenLabs?

M Megan Torres 3 weeks ago
I've used it for a few explainer videos, and it's pretty solid. The emotion control is actually really good. I'd say quality-wise it's right up there with ElevenLabs, maybe even better for some specific voice types depending on what you're after.

J Jacob Allen 3 weeks ago
Yeah, I'd agree. It's close. I found Fish Audio a bit easier to get the exact tone I wanted without a ton of tweaking. Plus, the instant cloning is super fast if you need something quick.

Hey, I'm thinking about grabbing an annual plan. Do they ever have sales, like around Black Friday or something, or is the 20% off annual billing the best it gets?

B Brittany Parker 1 month ago
They definitely have seasonal sales. I remember seeing a pretty good one during Cyber Monday last year. Black Friday too, probably. The annual discount is always there, but sometimes they stack more on for holidays.
6
S Sofia C. 1 month ago
Yeah, they usually do. I'd wait if you can. You might get a better deal during the bigger sales events like Black Friday/Cyber Monday or even New Year's.

What's the deal with "instant" vs "professional" voice cloning? Is the instant one good enough for most things or is the pro one way better?

M Michelle S. 1 month ago
Instant is really good for quick stuff, like if you just need a few lines and don't care about super subtle nuances. It's fast and surprisingly accurate. But if you need it to sound like *you* exactly, or for longer projects with lots of emotional range, professional is worth it.

J Jeff Rivera 1 month ago
I mostly use instant for testing out scripts. It's fine. Professional is a step up for sure, especially for commercial work or if you're really picky about perfect tone matching. It takes a bit longer though.
